Thanks to an educational application that uses Augmented Reality technology, you can see the Saxon Palace in its shape from before the outbreak of World War II in 1939. This is possible in the very place where the Palace stood throughout centuries - on Pilsudski Square in Warsaw.

Viewing the Saxon Palace through a mobile device is a fascinating journey in time, during which the voice of the narrator will guide you through three chapters of the history of the building. First, you will hear about the construction and transformation of the Palace, along with the history of the people and institutions that were connected to it. Then, the journey will take you through the tragic moment of Palace’s destruction during World War II and, finally, to its reconstruction in the upcoming years.

With the app, you will find out where Frédéric Chopin lived and created his first compositions, where Polish cryptologists cracked enemy’s secret codes, and which Polish kings resided in the Palace - and many, many more. In addition, you will discover the history of the Brühl Palace, which before WWII housed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The project is being implemented as a part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of regaining independence by our country, and as one of the means of restoring Polish nationhood. It was financed by the Minister of Culture, National Heritage and Sport in the framework of the NIEPODLEGŁA (INDEPENDENT) Multiannual Program for the years 2017-2022.
